Creative Process
This is How I Roll...Meeting:
Introductions. Scope of work is discussed with the statement or establishment of a company’s goals. This is most commonly in relation to the project at hand but not necessarily. If you have goals, I want to know about them. Any and all materials are handed over and I go to work.Research:
This is the secret chaotic symphony of thought. It’s all about opening your mind, finding all the right information you can, closing your mind and frappe… then pour it all out on a white piece of paper with a pencil. I often mix online examples, conversations, flowcharts, doodles, and magazines going back and forth, to and fro. I find that the creative part of the brain is most inspired when overwhelmed.Prototype Phase I:
The first step to structuring the chaos… Still in pencil and paper, (the primitive art form of your design) the original ideas that catch the eye or have promise are given form and often combined with each other to reach this first state of prototype. The number of designs at this point is narrowed down to around 3-5.Prototype Phase II:
Anything that comes out of prototype phase one with merit, or promise is given digital rendition. While my process is (literally) an open book and I’m happy to show anyone my initial chaotic ideas, this is usually the first thing you’ll actually see. You as the client are given these 3-5 choices for a rework. Once decided on the one you want we move on to the next stage…Prototype Phase III:
This is the second thing you’ll see. This is a rework of your choice of the previous prototypes. Tell me where you need it to go from here and I’ll make it happen.Final/Testing/Delivery:
Final tweaks are made and we don’t push the “done” button until you say so…
...Sound good?
